Sonia Valentín is the new production director of Wapa

The management of Wapa Televisión today announced the appointments of Sonia Valentín Production director and while Frank Dobek as Executive DirectorBoth will lead one of the channel’s largest and most dynamic divisions from Monday, March 15.

Valentín will be responsible for overseeing and meeting the needs of local productions, as well as providing administrative and content management support. He will also be responsible for the coordination and production of special events. In addition, he will be responsible for hiring talent and specialized personnel for, among other things, the development of new projects.

In this new role, I will use my knowledge and my sincere desire to continue to contribute to the development and growth of existing projects and others that we will be starting soon, ”said the producer, director and actress in a press release.

Frank Dobek, for his part, who has a history of more than 25 years in the television industry, will have the responsibility of leading the channel’s staff and technical team, including cameramen, lighting technicians, coordinators, editors and audio, among others. Likewise, it provides technical support to other departments.

In this new role, it is my commitment to ensure that the resources we offer are of the highest quality and with the best technology for the benefit of our viewers and customers, ”said Dobek, also in written communications.

Sonia Valentín is a graduate of the Communication Department of the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. He majored in postgraduate studies with a concentration in film at the University of Maine, and also acted at the HB Studio in New York. Throughout his career, he has produced and performed more than a dozen productions. He has also directed films and plays. Valentín is the founder of Producciones Copelar, a production house under which she created programs such as “Entre nosotras” and “Together in the morning” broadcast by Wapa. For the past three years she has participated in the “Viva la noche” program, hosting the analysis and discussion segment “Calentando la noche”, which will culminate next Thursday to devote herself to her new tasks.

Frank Dobek has a bachelor’s degree in electronics from San Juan Technological College with a concentration in communications. In 1993 he started his career at Coquí.net, where he installed the first Internet servers in Puerto Rico. In 1995 he moved to WIPR, where he started as an electronics technician, then technical director and later supervisor of the engineering department. In 2007 he joined Wapa Televisión as Production Operations Manager. From that position she led technical and operational projects such as: “Idol Puerto Rico”, “Miss Universe Puerto Rico”, election reporting and other specials, in addition to the local programs of the station and Wapa Deportes.
