Solid Ryu in Toronto vs. NY

DUNEDIN, Fla. – Hyun Ji Ryu calmly sailed into the seventh inning, Marcus Semien and Rowdy Tellez had homeruns and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the New York Yankees 7-3 on Tuesday-evening.

Ryu (1-1) gave up only one dirty run during 6 2/3 innings in which he struckout seven batters. He limited the Yankees to four hits and one walk.

The Blue Jays ace retired 12 batters in a row after DJ LeMahieu led off the first inning with an infield-single.

New York centerfielder Aaron Hicks returned to the lineup and went 4-for-3 after getting permission from manager Aaron Boone to miss Monday’s engagement following the death of Daunte Wright, a black citizen turned shot by the Minnesota police.

“He has a good mindset now,” Boone said before the game. “There’s no question he was very sad when he spoke to me in my office yesterday.”

The loss went to Jameson Taillon (0-1).

For the Yankees, Gary Sanchez 3-0 with a run scored. The Venezuelan Rougned Odor 4-0 with an RBI. Colombian Gio Urshela 4-0.
