The so-called “SoHo Karen” has been arrested in Los Angeles on charges of attempted robbery and making false charges for allegedly assaulting a black 14-year-old after falsely claiming to have stolen her cell phone, an interaction that captured on video. Miya Ponsetto, 22, was taken into custody after a car chase, according to New York City Daily news. She had fled Manhattan, where the altercation took place, to Los Angeles. She also allegedly tried Keyon Harrold Jr.’s phone. to pack. Ponsetto’s own phone was later found in an Uber and returned to her. Her lawyer told me The New York Times that her client was not acting out of racial bias, but rather ‘purely because she was anxious, stressed, cornered, feeling helpless, lost, alone, unsupported’.
