SUMMARY FORECASTS
It was another cold February day Wednesday, but for a change, one without snowflakes, at least not before we got into the night. Once last night, another round of snow rolled through Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This time the snow was more stable the farther south we traveled, and while many of us picked up a few inches of fuzzy snow, slightly higher amounts occurred in far south Pennsylvania, Delaware, and South Jersey. It is these southern areas that are likely to have the most trouble this morning when it comes to travel.
Any snow ends early today, and should be dry most of the day, followed by a flake-free Friday. But as has been the case for most of February so far, any interruption of the flakes is short-lived. Sure enough, another round of snow or a winter mix is expected mid-weekend, it will likely return to the northern parts.
Then it’s next Tuesday that will probably bring our next storm, this time maybe more sleet, sleet and rain instead of snow. But as has been the case all month, let’s focus on one bout of winter weather at a time. Given the persistent active and wintry weather pattern, the colder temperatures will remain in place for the foreseeable future with no ongoing thaw in sight.
DETAILED FORECAST
TODAY TO FRIDAY

The snow will gradually decrease and end from northwest to southeast as we get into the heart of our morning rush hour today. The snow will stay longest near the I-95 corridor, where it may not be until mid to late morning that it is finally over for good.
While for many the snow has to be done in the heart of our morning rush hour, we still have to consider slippery spots due to the freshly fallen snow, especially on anything untreated, raised surfaces, bridges and viaducts.
After the snow has passed, the clouds will linger for most of the day, but a hint of sunshine is not out of the question as we head into the afternoon. The rest of the day will be a cold, but also drier day, with the highs expected to be around freezing.
Don’t expect much to melt with the clouds and near-freezing temperatures, but road conditions will improve noticeably during the day.
A second disturbance tonight and Friday should plunge far enough south to no longer affect our weather, so only expect a shifting cloudy sky for tonight with lows falling into the higher teens (look for slippery spots from another freeze of standing water and).
Then for Friday you can expect more in terms of sunshine mixed with clouds to close out the week. Despite some sun, the cold air remains firmly in place, with Friday’s highs likely in the upper 20s.
THIS WEEKEND
The weekend will likely start with some sunshine early on Saturday and end with some sunshine later on Sunday, but in between there will be another rapid storm that will bring another round of winter weather for the middle of the weekend.
For areas to the north and west of the Lehigh Valley, this one mainly looks like snow, while the areas to the south and east can experience snow, a winter mix and rain as you travel closer to the coast. Some accumulation of snow, ice and sleet is possible with this function for late Saturday and especially Saturday evening.
START NEXT WEEK
Monday looks cold and dry, a short break between systems. But another storm, this one possibly more significant, could hit the area Tuesday through Wednesday.
This one has the potential to be more sleet and sleet than any other storm so far this month, so the potential for a winter mix and some ice will need to be closely monitored. For some, regular rain can also play a role, especially as you travel further south and east.
