“Saturday Night Live” mocked former President Trump’s impeachment trial this weekend, calling it the “dumbest trial” ever, just hours after senators voted to acquit him on Saturday.
The jurors who ruled the case were the ones attacked by the defendant. The trial took place at the scene of the crime. Then, just after the trial ended, one of the jurors who voted to acquit Trump ran to outside and said, ‘Someone needs to sue this guy, he did it, this guy should be in jail!’ joked Colin Jost, co-host of the show’s fake news segment Weekend Update.
Jost referred to Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell, who voted to acquit Trump because he said it would be unconstitutional to convict an ex-president, but claimed, “He has not gotten away with anything yet. “
“President Trump is still accountable for everything he did during his term,” McConnell said after the vote to acquit Trump on charges that he sparked the January 6 riot in the Capitol. “We have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil lawsuits. ”

Jost also claimed that if a president were to be impeached for something it would be “sending a crowd to kill the vice president.”
He claimed he feels bad for former Vice President Mike Pence because “43 of his work buddies were like, come on, Mike, they were just trying to hang you. Don’t be such a drama queen.”
Only seven Republicans voted with Democrats on Saturday to condemn the ex-president for “inciting insurgency.”
The comedian suggested that President Biden tell liberal rioters to go to the Capitol, because senators in their acquittal “said it was fine.”
‘Coolest Man I Know’
Earlier, in the cold open of the show, cast member Kate McKinnon as Senator Lindsey Graham claimed the acquittal was a “great day for 30% of America.”
Graham of McKinnon praised the end of the trial, saying the government could now focus on the important issues: “Locking Hillary up. [Clinton] and Freeing the Beautiful Britney Spears, “a reference to the” Free Britney “movement over the pop singer’s controversial conservatorship.

Trump “has not attempted a coup,” McKinnon added. ‘He’s’ coo’. He is the coolest man I know. “
The sketch also targeted Trump’s defense team who claimed Democrats have used violent rhetoric in the past.
“If you think Donald Trump saying the word ‘fight’ is a crime, I invite you to watch this tape,” said cast member Pete Davidson as Trump attorney Michael van der Veen said, before showing a series of clips of people who said the word “fight”.
The video started with Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, but Lady Gaga also sang it during the National Anthem, Brad Pitt said it in ‘Fight Club’ and other clips from the movies ‘Minions’, ‘The Karate Kid’ and ‘Star Wars’. : Episode 1.”
