‘SNL’ mocks Cuomo, but does not mention the nursing home scandal

“Saturday Night Live” took a swipe at the appearance and reopening plans of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, but he didn’t mention his nursing home death scandal.

Weekend Update host Michael Che compared Cuomo to Moe Szyslak, the gruff owner of a bar, explaining that New York was expanding its suitability for the COVID-19 vaccine to include people with underlying conditions.

“New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is a real-life model for Moe Szyslak, has announced that starting next week, more New Yorkers will be eligible for the COVID vaccine,” Che said.

“New Yorkers will have to provide documentation of their condition and answer medical questions, such as, ‘What’s up, you?'” He continued.

Che’s co-host, Colin Jost, then agreed to refer to Cuomo’s plan to reopen sports stadiums to fans.

“Gov. Cuomo also announced that it would allow sports venues to open from Feb. 23, but would limit them to 10 percent capacity – known as Jets level,” said Jost.

However, it did not go unnoticed that the segment ignored the scathing admission that his office was hiding thousands of COVID-19 nursing home deaths.

“Nice that @nbcsnl had 2 bits on #Cuomo on #WeekendUpdate, but I didn’t say Cuomo was exposed for sending seniors to die from #COVID in #care homes,” wrote a Twitter user. “Wow. What an * easy * lay-up joke for #SNL, right ..”

Another added, “Typical SNL bias. Without Cuomo killing thousands. Could have put a number on him but didn’t. They are really cowards. “

The Post revealed that Cuomo’s top assistant, Melissa DeRosa, admitted to lawmakers on Thursday that her boss had hidden coronavirus death toll data from nursing home residents to avoid sharing it with the federal government.
