Snapchat is permanently banning President Trump

“Last week we announced an indefinite suspension of President Trump Snapchat (SNAP) account, and have assessed what long-term action is in the best interest of our Snapchat community, “said a Snapchat spokesperson.” In the interest of public safety and based on his efforts to spread disinformation, hate speech and incitement to violence, which are clear violations of our guidelines, we have made the decision to permanently terminate his account. “

Social media platforms have been working to eliminate or limit the reach of inflammatory content and accounts in the wake of the U.S. Capitol riots and ahead of next week’s inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, with a special focus on what to do with accounts associated with the president.

Last week, Facebook said it would ban Trump’s account from posting for at least the remainder of his tenure and perhaps “indefinitely.” Twitter, Trump’s favorite online megaphone, initially shut down his account for instigating what would become a violent uprising in the Capitol. He would tweet twice more before Twitter determined it had finally had enough and shut down his account permanently.
YouTube said Tuesday it will suspend Trump’s channel for at least a week, and possibly longer, after his channel earns a strike under the platform’s policies.
