SLO County reports 51 new COVID-19 cases, 3 additional deaths

San Luis Obispo County Public Health officials reported 51 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the county’s total number to 20,017 confirmed cases on March 11.

The county also added three additional COVID-19-related deaths. To date, SLO County has recorded 251 deaths attributed to the virus.

Health officials say 11 people are currently hospitalized. Another 309 are recovering at home and 19,443 people have recovered, according to authorities.

Twenty of the 38 accredited and staffed ICU beds in the province are currently occupied. One of them was taken by a COVID-19 patient.

  • Pismo Beach – 323
  • Atascadero State Hospital (patients) – 206
  • Cambria – 174

  • Saint Margaret – 132
  • Creston – 83
  • Cayucos – 68
  • Avila Beach – 28
  • San Simeon – 21
  • Bradley – 7

The locations of an additional 22 cases are being investigated, and a further ten are listed as “other”, including communities with fewer than five cases. The Public Health Department does not identify those locations.

Community COVID-19 test sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.

VACCINATIONS

San Luis Obispo County has opened vaccine eligibility to the following groups:

  • People aged 65 and over
  • Anyone aged 16-64 who is most at risk of serious illness or death from COVID-19 due to serious health conditions
  • Education and childcare workers
  • Emergency workers
  • Food and agricultural workers
  • Healthcare and community health workers
  • Residents and staff of long-term care facilities
