SLO County again sets a daily COVID-19 record and reports 5 more deaths

San Luis Obispo County is reporting the death of another five people who tested positive for COVID-19.

Health officials say two of the patients were in their 70s, one in their 80s and two in their 90s.

San Luis Obispo County also added 258 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, another record for a one-day number of cases.

The previous record was set on Saturday when 229 new cases were reported.

This brings the county’s total to 9,061 confirmed cases as of December 22.

Thirty-eight people are hospitalized, including eight patients who are in the ICU. Another 2,012 people are recovering at home and health officials say 6,930 people have recovered.

In San Luis Obispo County, 65 people have been killed as a result of COVID-19.

The location of 43 additional cases is under investigation, and a further 12 are listed as “other”, including communities with fewer than five cases. The Health Department does not identify those locations.

Community COVID-19 test sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
