Releasing on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch this fall
Earlier this month a message from Shredder’s Revenge left me my buried but luckily still findable copy of it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in TimeNow here’s another announcement that makes me long for the glory days of the Konami arcade: a sharp-looking new Asterix beat-’em-up game.
The fighter of nostalgia mining is called Asterix and Obelix: Slap Them All and it will be heading to PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in the fall of 2021 from publisher Microids and developer Mr Nutz Studio.
Today’s press release suggests “pretty straightforward” beat-’em-up gameplay – what, hey, that could be totally fine! – and also confirms local cooperation. Hit them all will span “the most iconic places in the comic book series” with enemies such as “legionaries, pirates, bandits and even the dreaded Northmen.”
I’m not sure what it feels like to fight the Roman threat, but I appreciate the more than usual effort put into achieving the look of Asterix and Obelix: Slap Them AllSome nice touches there.
