Skater uses an umbrella to glide across the ice like Mary Poppins

It slides umbrellas.

An inventive Canadian skater impressed social media users after using an umbrella to glide across the ice like Mary Poppins.

“It turned out to be a good idea because we were able to cover it more quickly,” said Devin Jenson of his daring ice cap. The stuntman came up with the ‘really fun’ mode of transport while playing hockey with friends on Three Valley Lake near Revelstoke, British Columbia.

“My friend Bill then realized he had an umbrella in his car, so we thought we’d give that a try to get some speed,” he told Storyful.

In the next minute video, Jenson can be seen on skates with his umbrella outstretched as the beloved Disney character as the wind drags him across the ice via his improvised parasail. The comic clip ends with the subzero windsurfer flashing a thumbs up to the videographer as he glides past.

“Not only was it free of snow, but it was perfectly smooth and flat, which made for a great afternoon,” gushed the daredevil, who had not seen the lake freeze like this despite living there since 1989.
