Six months ago they followed the trail of a Honduran extradition request

For more than six years he operated with a low profile in the west Honduras, but infiltrated agents of the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the national authorities followed him.

A Martin Adolfo Diaz Contreras (age 30) requested on extradition by the Eastern District Court of Texas, USA, is held responsible for conspiracy crimes related to the trade, distribution and production of five kilograms or more of cocaine.

Díaz’s arrest was carried out the previous Saturday by teams from the National Anti-Drug Police Directorate (DNPA) and the National Directorate of Border Police Services (DNSPF) when the alleged drug trafficker approached Copán Ruinas.

According to federal court charges for the Eastern District of Texas, Díaz Contreras is said to have committed drug trafficking from 2015 to date. “The information we have so far is that his contacts were in Central America, Mexico and South America,” said a source.

The police report shows that the intelligence units reported that Díaz Contreras would make a move on Saturday morning, and was intercepted at around 11:30 a.m. before reaching Copán Ruinas, in the western part of Honduras.

During this one-month period, the requesting state, i.e. the United States, must send the extradition judge the documentation supporting the accusation against the Honduran.
