‘Silence Of The Lambs’ spin-off ‘Clarice’ chewed by ‘Hannibal’ fans

The Lambs have been led to slaughter.

In the biggest cannibal drama since Armie Hammer, CBS ‘”Silence Of The Lambs” spin-off “Clarice” is gutted by crime drama die-hards, who instead demand the return of NBC’s canceled “Hannibal” series.

The hashtag “#HannibalDeservesMore” started trending on social media Friday morning.

Widely advertised during the 2021 Super Bowl, “Clarice” follows the untold story of hotshot FBI agent Clarice Starling (played by Rebecca Breeds) as she returns to work after capturing cannibal serial killer Hannibal Lecter.

The series takes place a year after the 1991 film “The Silence of the Lambs” – based on Thomas Harris’ novel of the same name – with Jodie Foster as Clarice and Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter.

The CBS drama marks the first spin-off from “Silence” since NBC’s “Hannibal,” which explores the early relationship between Lecter (played by Mads Mikkelsen) and gifted criminal profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). Despite being lauded for its landscape-chewing performances and mouthwatering food porn imagery, the killer series was discontinued in 2015 after three seasons, a decision that angered the rabid fan base, which launched a petition to save the beloved series.

Now “Hannibal” die hards have renewed their calls for the show’s revival after finding that “Clarice” is missing teeth.

“They were right, it’s nothing like” Hannibal “, Tweeted a “Clarice” critic, noting that the CBS show scored a paltry 36% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to 92% on its predecessor.

Another wondered, “What’s really stopping networks from picking up #Hannibal? SEEN the question ???”

“It’s #HannibalDeservesMore day !!! Share your love and #SaveHannibal already @netflix !!!! Tweeted a fannibal.

The creator of ‘Hannibal’ Bryan Fuller was moved by the statement of support, Tweet: “#HANNIBALDESERVESMORE THANK YOU, #FannibalFamily”

Not a word whether “Hannibal” will see a second coming.
