Side Byron Castillo is not called to the Ecuadorian team due to doubts about his nationality

Byron Castillo was chosen as the most outstanding right back of the Ecuadorian football championship and was included in the LigaPro ideal team in 2020. Despite this, the player was out Barcelona SC he did not qualify for the final micro cycle of the national team.

An investigation into the Ecuadorian Football Association (FEF) published at the beginning of 2019, identified alleged irregularities in the athlete’s documentation, referring to their nationality.

Castillo was part of the Ecuadorian youth teams, in the South American Under 17 2015 when doubts about the documentation started. That same year Emelec divorced the footballer for that inconvenience.

After the FEF suspended Castillo in early 2019, the lawyer has Jose Massú filed a protective action in favor of the player for “violation of his constitutional rights” and got him to qualified as Ecuadorian.

Gabriel Wainer, technical secretary of the FEF, assured in an interview with Radio Huancavilca de Guayaquil that the party will not be considered while there is a legal issue with his alleged nationality as this could harm the selected national for possible misalignment.
