Shots were shot at the scene of a Los Angeles location shoot for the ABC police drama The Rookie this afternoon, disrupting production and flooding units into the area.
LAPD media relations officer William Cooper told Deadline that a call came in at 2:56 PM for a possible shooting on Hartford Avenue and West 5th Street.
Rampart Division units responded and are still on the scene. At 3:30 pm, the police reported that all suspects had left on arrival. They are still actively exploring the area.
Williams had no information on which production was affected or the number of shots, but Deadline confirmed it was ABC’s drama series The Rookie starring Nathan Fillion.
There are conflicting reports as to whether the incident took place on or near the show’s set. Eyewitnesses say they heard three gunshots hit the building above where the crew members were working.
No one on the show was injured in the shooting. The Rookie team left the area after the incident. The series is scheduled to film in a different location tonight, sources said.
The Rookie is currently in its third season. The next episode will air this Sunday.
