As usual, the monthly Switch Online offerings in Japan are slightly different from the west.
Titles for Japan in February include Psycho Dream, Mario’s Super Picross (already available in the west), Solomon’s key 2 (Fire ‘n Ice) and the highlight of the lot is Atlus’ 1994 Super Famicom JRPG, Shin Megami Tensei II.
This follows the release of the original Shin Megami Tensei on the NSO service last July. Here’s a little about it, via a rough translation from Nintendo’s Japanese website:
The second in the Shin Megami Tensei series. A new choice for a new hero will determine the future of the world.
This title is a role-playing game for Super Nintendo released in 1994. The sequel to “Shin Megami Tensei” is set in TOKYO Millennium, a city formerly known as Tokyo. In addition to fighting demons, we sometimes negotiate to increase the number of demons (fellow demons) and to challenge strong enemies.
While maintaining the trait that the ending changes greatly depending on the protagonist’s actions and choices, several elements have been added, such as the inheritance of magic in demon association and “virtual butler” who can gain experience points by training in virtual space.
These games will be made available on Nintendo Japan’s Switch Online service on February 17th (same date as the Western releases). To play Shin Megami Tensei II, you must have access to a Japanese Switch account and the Super Famicom app.
