Shawn Johnson says she has tested positive for the coronavirus because she is expecting her second child with husband Andrew East (who had previously tested positive for the virus).

The Olympic gymnast, 29, opened Sunday in an Instagram Stories post about her diagnosis: ‘I have my results back today and they are positive about Covid. I’m not gonna lie … I’m nervous knowing I’m positive. My body is just exhausted. ‘

Johnson, who shares daughter Drew with East, 29, noted that ‘it’s been two weeks [Respiratory Syncytial Virus] with Drew and now this. ‘

The Iowa-born gold medalist listed a range of stressors she has to deal with during her health struggles.

She wrote: ‘1. I don’t want to make my family sick. 2. I have asthma and have had it all my life, so this scares me a little bit more. 3. Had a very close quarrel for his life last month with the fight against Covid so it’s a serious concern / affecting our household. ‘

Johnson said she is currently dealing with ‘a cough, terrible sore throat and headache’ as well as ‘fatigue’, the last of which she attributed to her pregnancy.

‘Not looking for some kind [pity] party, ‘she wrote. Just a reminder to take care of yourself. Drink some extra water tonight and wash your hands 🙂 ‘

She later added, ‘Pray so hard for all those babies out there tonight (juicy mama here) and everyone who is fighting for their health. Okay … this emotional mess of a human is now going to try to sleep. I love you all. ‘

The couple revealed earlier this month that they were expecting their second child in a YouTube clip, while Johnson spoke of the stress of balancing the pregnancy with her husband’s diagnosis.

“We were afraid you had COVID to begin with,” she told her husband. “We weren’t sure Drew had it, we weren’t sure I had it. So I called her pediatrician, I called my OB. … I was like, “What are we doing? Should I be worried about being pregnant?” especially early in pregnancy. ‘

Johnson, who miscarried in October 2017, said she was ‘afraid of possibly getting worse’ [her] risks of miscarriage. ‘
