Announced this morning on the PlayStation Blog, Greylock Studios Cut-off steel (formerly known as Consequence) is a first-person shooter starring a character who cannot reload because she only has one arm.

Her name is Steel, and before the game starts, she loses her arm in an accident caused by mega corporation EdenSys. When the company leaves her after her injury, Steel launches a mission to rescue others trapped under EdenSys’ heel and get revenge for her dismemberment.

Steel cannot reload with one hand, so she uses her acrobatic skills to steal weapons from her enemies. She slides, runs, runs over the wall and dives around her enemies. To encourage players to rely more on Steel’s agility, designer Matt Larabee made sure that enemy fire automatically misses when she’s in the middle of a stunt. As long as Steel keeps moving, she’s almost bulletproof. That’s pretty neat.

Cut-off steelThe environments are voxel-built and completely destructible, so when Steel gets a cannon on her residual limb later in the game, the shit blows up. Who needs to reload when you can shoot the ground from beneath your enemies with an arm cannon?

Cut-off steel is coming to PS4 and PC later this year.
