Seven killed in a random stabbing attack outside the Chinese school

According to state media and a report, a deranged man fatally stabbed at least seven people – the most seemingly older women – in a suspected arbitrary knife attack in China.

The suspect, who can only be identified by his last name, Yang, was arrested after the early morning massacre outside a closed school in Kaiyuan, Liaoning province, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

The man began attacking people, including some who appeared to have just come from a nearby bathhouse, CCTV said. The victims also included seven injured, including a cop who tried to stop him.

Most of the victims, who were not identified by officials, turned out to be middle-aged or elderly women, a lady named Liu told the South China Morning Post.

The attacker “appeared to be in his 50s,” added Liu, who runs a nearby music studio.

“[The suspect] just stabbed strangers with a knife. It was really awful, ”she said.

‘It is fortunate that the school is free today. Otherwise there could have been more victims. “

Chinese law restricts the sale and possession of firearms, but massive knife attacks have become an alarming problem.
