Serena Williams will make her 2021 Australian Open debut in style

While Tom Brady made his case for the greatest athlete of all time on Sunday night, some 9,600 miles away, Serena Williams said, “Not so fast, mate.”

With all due respect to Brady and his Super Bowl-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates, he wasn’t the only GOAT in action. Serena won the evening with her performance on the field at the Australian Open, statement outfit and global dominance.

Before playing even one point in her first round 6-1, 6-1 over Laura Siegemund, the 39-year-old was already in that Others sporting event in a memorable Super Bowl commercial.

Soon after, the 23-time great champion got everyone talking, but once again, when she took to court in a colorful, asymmetrical one-legged catsuit. She later said the look was inspired by the late track star Florence Griffith Joyner.

“I was inspired by Flo-Jo, who was a great track athlete, a great athlete growing up,” she said later. “Looking at her fashion, just always changing, her outfits were always great. This year we thought about what we could do to keep elevating the Serena Williams on the pitch. The Nike team actually came up with this design that was inspired by Flo- Jo. Was like, ‘Oh my god, this is so brilliant.’ ‘

While the catsuit doesn’t seem to be on sale right now, Nike has introduced a line of T-shirts celebrating Serena’s legendary achievements and iconic status. Her husband, Alexis Ohanian, was even spotted at the match carrying one in her box.

When you think “QUEEN!” to yourself at this point as you relive her incredible night, it seems like she would agree.
