Serena Williams and her “crazy and super intense” quarantine

The women’s tennis icon Serena Williams was interviewed The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and described Australia’s strict quarantine as “crazy and super intense”, but endorsed it without regard.

Williams, 39, is about to end the 14-day incarceration and is headed to court to face Naomi Osaka in an exhibition game in Adelaide on Friday.

“Australia, from the last time I heard, zero cases of COVID. So that’s incredible. It’s really amazing,” he said before the initial consultation.

Williams lives in a hotel in Adelaide with her three-year-old daughter Olympia. “It’s definitely hard to be around a three-year-old girl every day, but it’s worth it because you want everyone to be safe at the end of the day.

The American hopes to match the Australian Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles with another victory in Melbourne. It’s everything you expect after the quarantine has ended. It’s everything you dream of.
