Senator proposes Assistant Secretary of Education who asked for mask to be removed

At yesterday’s public hearing on special education, Senator María de Lourdes Santiago had a tense oral meeting with the Deputy Secretary of Special Education at the Ministry of Education (DE) Eliezer Ramos, who asked during his presentation to remove the mask .

The official asked for special permission before reading the presentation in question and complained that “talking too much with a mask sometimes makes things complicated”.

At Ramos’ request, the pro-independence legislator replied, “We need to prepare, after all we’re going to ask the boys and girls to wear the mask all day, so maybe we can do our best, Mr. Secretary.”

The awkward moment was captured in a video that has already circulated on social networks and sparked a lot of criticism against DE’s assistant secretary, and many applauded the PIP senator’s intervention.
