Senator McConnell’s Louisville home destroyed after block of larger stimulus measures, State GOP condemns act

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) – Update 1/2 1:01 pm:

The Kentucky Republican Party has released a statement condemning the vandalism in Senator Mitch McConnell’s house.

“Vandalism is reprehensible and there is no place in our politics for such acts. Kentuckians deserve better and the Democrats should join us in condemning this act of vandalism, ”said Mike Lonergan, spokesman for the Kentucky Republican Party.

Original Story:

The home of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in Louisville was vandalized after his blocking of $ 2,000 incentive checks to most Americans, according to the Louisville Courier Journal.

In a statement Saturday morning, McConnell said, “I have fought for the First Amendment all my career and defended peaceful protests. I appreciate every Kentuckian who has been involved in the democratic process, whether they agree with me or not. “

“This is different,” he continued. “Vandalism and the politics of fear have no place in our society.”

He concluded, “My wife and I have never been intimidated by this poisonous playbook. We just hope our neighbors in Louisville aren’t too bothered by this radical tantrum. “

A senator’s spokesman did not immediately respond to whether he was at home during the incident. Louisville Metro Police has not released any information about whether they have any suspects or additional information about the vandalism.

House majority leader Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco home was also the target of vandalism following Congress’ failed attempt to provide Americans with $ 2,000 incentive checks.
