Senator Ted Cruz posted photos of himself on Twitter supplying water and meeting Texans amid growing controversy over the Republican legislature’s flight to tropical Cancun last week as his constituents in the Lone Star State battled a deep-freeze, widespread power outage and burst pipes that flooded houses.
The pictures, posted to his Twitter account On Saturday, the embattled senator showed a chest of water to several vehicles and shook a person’s hand.
He wrote “Texas Strong” in the tweet.
Cruz, whose family returned from Cancún on Saturday, also faced a FEMA statement, noting that the White House had approved a major disaster statement in 77 counties in Texas and added information where people can request federal aid.
He also links to a tweet from the City of Austin that it received 10,878 crates of water to distribute.
But critics scoffed at Cruz’s tweets showing him that he was involved in relief work in Texas.
“I’m glad someone in Ted Cruz’s Senate office has finally instructed him on how to fake compassion and humanity and create the illusion that he cares about the people he’s been chosen for,” Melissa Ryan.

Others pointed out that Beto O’Rourke, who narrowly lost to Cruz in 2018, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined in to raise millions of dollars and help Texans, even as the fallout enveloped Cruz for his Mexican vacation.
Cruz flew back to Houston on Thursday, a day after he and his family were photographed aboard a plane to Cancun and text messages from his wife Heidi revealed they were telling friends they were leaving “FREE” again and headed to the Ritz-Carlton. resort in cancun.
Initially, Cruz said he escorted his daughters and their friends and intended to return immediately.
He later finally admitted that he intended to stay there with his family until Saturday.
An estimated 70 people died in the US as a result of winter weather, with most of those deaths occurring in Texas.
