Netflix announces that Selena: The series will have its second and final season, which will premiere in May, after the great success it had on the platform through in the Top 10 for several weeks.
When Selena quintanilla Bursting into the Tejano music scene in the 1980s, his dream was to create music that would celebrate both his Latin roots and the education his family gave him, always between Mexican and American. She eventually brought these two worlds together, leaving behind a timeless legacy that still resonates with generations of fans around the world.
We had the same hopes when we released Selena: The Series in December. Netflix. We wanted to pay tribute to the young woman with big dreams and an even bigger voice, and honor her incredible rise, from performing at local concerts with her family to performing on some of the greatest stages in the world.
We look forward to continuing this adventure, with the highly anticipated finale of this two-part series premiering worldwide on May 14.
Ahead of the second part premiere, we are pleased to announce that 25 million households worldwide sang “Como la flor” with the first part of the series for the first four weeks after its December premiere. The series was in the Top 10 in 23 countries – including the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Peru – and was in the Top 10 in Mexico for 26 consecutive days. Half of the fans came from the United States, where he was number 1 in the Top 10 for his entire first week.

And the excitement spread far beyond Netflix. On Spotify, his music views were up 260% during the launch of Selena: The Series. Selena’s listeners also increased 90% in the same period, reaching 5 million listeners per month.
The day before the series premiere, fans also broke the record for the most videos of people uploading the same song (‘Como la flor’, by Selena y los Dinos) to TikTok in an hour as part of the challenge #TodosComoLaFlor.
At Google, global search interest for Selena increased 1600% around the launch of the series. In 2020, Selena was the third most searched woman on Google in Latin or Spanish music worldwide.
But the best is yet to come.
