Last year, the Super Selectos supermarket chain bought $ 10 million worth of products such as chicken and Creole chicken from local company Carnes de El Salvador.
Grupo Calleja’s vice president, Carlos Calleja, visited this company this Thursday, which supplies both fresh and frozen chicken to its 103 supermarket stores under the name Selectos Fresh, a Super Selectos private label in the perishable category.
The commercial relationship started in June 2014 to supply fresh chicken, which is sold in 100% of the chain.

Initially, this company supplied 7 products to Super Selectos, all fresh, but currently this number has risen to 18 in total, between fresh and frozen, Creole and seasonal chicken (broad-breasted chicken) for the Christmas period.

In 2015, $ 3.8 million was purchased from this vendor, but last year, purchases increased to $ 10 million, with continued double-digit growth in recent years, estimated to continue similarly into 2021. company ranked number 3 in its category national rankings, thus with 30% of the market share, according to data from Selectos.
“We see an example of innovation, growth, opportunity and when we started we hadn’t imagined everything that could be developed and now this meat is gaining great acceptance among Selectos customers,” stresses Calleja.

Today, Carnes de El Salvador works under controlled environments in facilities that house twice the number of birds compared to open galleys and where all factors, such as the waste generated by the animals, are exploited.
“Everything is controlled by software that allows us to manage the various stages of the bird’s development, feeding is automatic and the water system drips, which generates health in the birds and greater productive yields,” assured Arístides Escobar, director of Meat of The Rescuer.
The company has realized a growth of more than 100%, thanks to the guaranteed purchase that makes them Super Selectos.
For this year, the supermarket chain has a trend of 13% growth in purchases for Meat from El Salvador.
