Second former assistant accuses Governor Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment: report

According to a new report, a second woman has accused Governor Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment.

Charlotte Bennett, a 25-year-old former assistant to Cuomo, told the New York Times that the governor had asked her inappropriate personal questions and said he was open to relationships with women in their twenties.

Cuomo released a statement Saturday night saying, “Ms. Bennett was a hardworking and valued member of our team at COVID. She has every right to speak up.”

“When she came to me and told me that she was a survivor of sexual violence and how it shaped her and her ongoing efforts to create an organization that gave her voice to help other survivors, I tried to be supportive and helpful to be. Mrs. Bennett’s first impression was correct: I was trying to mentor her. I never made any progress toward Mrs. Bennett, nor did I ever intend to do anything that was inappropriate. The last thing I ever wanted was to make her feel the things that are being reported, ”he said.
