With heavy snow forecast expected in the Chicago area through Tuesday morning, dozens of school districts have canceled classes or announced that they will switch to e-learning due to the weather.
According to the latest updates to the Emergency Closing Center website, numerous districts have announced that they will cancel classes completely or switch to e-learning due to the severe weather.

According to Mayor Lori Lightfoot, an announcement about the classes at the Chicago Public Schools is expected by 5 p.m. Monday.
Several colleges in the area have also announced the cancellation of in-person classes, including DeKalb’s Northern Illinois University. All lessons from 5 pm on Monday will be moved online for the rest of the day.
All in-person classes at the University of Chicago are canceled as of 2:30 PM Monday, and those cancellations continue through Tuesday afternoon.
Non-essential activities are also canceled.
DePaul University’s Lincoln Park and Loop campuses close Monday evening and remain closed Tuesday due to inclement weather, college officials said.
All in-person classes are canceled and online classes may resume as scheduled. The school is calling for personal lessons to be switched to distance learning whenever possible.
The campus of the University of Illinois-Chicago will close at 4 p.m. on Monday, the school announced on social media.
Kankakee Community College closes its facilities at 2:00 PM Monday and remains closed Tuesday. All learning will transition to distance learning, the school said.
All facilities at Purdue University Northwest and Indiana University Northwest are also closed due to bad weather.
