Scherzer milestone guide National victory

WASHINGTON (Neth.) – Kyle Schwarber ended the game with a homerun in the ninth and the Washington Nationals defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 1-0 on Friday.

Before the thrilling denouement, Max Scherzer passed Cy Young on the list of pitchers with the most strikeouts in history.

As a left-handed batter, Schwarber found a pitch from left-handed Alex Young (0-3), with a count of 2-1, and landed the fire that sent the ball all the way to right field, about 463 from the plate, for his first homer with Washington .

Brad Hand (1-0) solved the ninth empty chapter to take the win. The Nationals only allowed three hits.

Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young receiver, passed exactly the man behind the trophy. He retired all three of his opponents in the seventh inning and was ranked 22nd on the list of the most strikeout-pitchers in history.
