Saved By The Bell’s Lark Voorhies Says Cameo In Show Reboot Helped With Her Schizoaffective Disorder

Save By The Bell’s Lark Voorhies says a cameo on the show’s reboot helped with her schizoaffective disorder.

Diagnosed with the condition, which is a combination of schizophrenia and a mood disorder, Voorhies became candid about the ‘many competing voices’ in her head during a Dr. Oz performance in February.

The 46-year-old actress, who first rose to fame as Lisa Marie Turtle on SBTB in the 1990s, returned to the talk show on Thursday to speak about her progress, giving her Oz performance credit for helping her land the revival role. .

“I have to thank you for the great exposure on your show that helped the SBTB producers reconsider my value to the production,” she said.

‘It’s always so good to be understood and to be able to come home! Yes, SBTB is my home. ‘

Originally rejected for the reboot, Voorhies spoke of the heartbreaking situation in February.

‘I have to admit I felt a little hurt and hurt when I wasn’t invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion and other cast members’ events, but of course I also realized that having this enigmatic disorder was instrumental in that factual decision, ”she said.

What is Schizoaffective Thinking Disorder?

Schizoaffective thinking disorder is a mental health disorder characterized by a combination of schizophrenia symptoms and mood disorder symptoms.

The symptoms of the disorder range from hallucinations and delusions to depression and mania in combination.

There are two types of STD, including the bipolar type and the depressive type. One contains manic and depressive episodes and the other contains only major depression.

Although symptoms vary from person to person, the disorder usually shows a severe manic or depressed mood and a two-week period of psychotic symptoms.

Causes of the condition can range from hereditary factors or can be triggered by stressful events.

After speaking about her struggles, Lark along with her mother Tricia revealed on Thursday that there has been ‘so much progress’ with her diagnosis, saying, ‘it’s incredible’.

She said that shooting SBTB was ‘very exciting’ as she shared how it came about.

‘I got a call from Elizabeth Berkley, who plays Jessie. She sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. And we had a great time shooting it. ‘

While talking about coping with her disorder while shooting, she said, ‘I’ll put it in a bag and leave it in my room and I’ll come out and do the rules and we’ll do our thing,’ saying that acting is what she should do. ‘
