Kentucky and Louisville polluted college basketball’s reputation on Saturday with 40 minutes of ugly basketball. Despite bad play, Kentucky had a chance of winning. Olivier Sarr’s attempt from the corner, the same place where he was a game-winner vs. missed Notre Dame, hit every spot on the edge before rolling out. The Wildcats lost 62-59, Kentucky’s sixth consecutive series and Louisville’s first since 2016.

Sarr was 0-4 at night, scoring only one run and one rebound. Terrence Clarke was winless, limited by his injured ankle, and BJ Boston scored just 3 of the 11 field goals. Davion Mintz was Britain’s brightest star, making four threes to finish with 19 points and seven rebounds.
UK had another drought second half, nine minutes without a field goal scored. Despite more offensive incompetence, Kentucky still had a chance of winning thanks to a bizarre, ugly sequence of events.
– Isaiah Jackson tipped his own miss.
– Carlik Jones made a bank shot from the center of the paint.
– Sarr makes two free throws.
– UofL shot clock violation.
– Jackson 12-footer is missing (and it wasn’t very close).
– UofL walk.
Jackson moves 1 for 2 from the free-throw line to even the game at 59.
– UofL’s Dre Davis steps out of baseline range.
Askew forces a three while the shot clock is running, UK is called for a loose ball foul on the rebound.
– Davis misses the first free throw, makes the second.
Sarr’s shot goes in and out.
Kentucky lost a rock fight. Now they are 1-6, running in SEC game.
