(CNN Español) – Uruguayan footballer Santiago “Morro” García was found dead Saturday in his apartment in the city of Mendoza, Argentina. The club Godoy Cruz, the team he played for, confirmed this on its official Twitter account.

Prosecutor Claudia Ríos, who carried out the visual inspection in the footballer’s apartment, confirmed to the press outside the building that the body found is that of García. He was found lying on a bed, with a gun at his side, and shot. The reasons for his death are still being investigated, Ríos said.
