Samsung made waves at CES this year, announcing a line of new TVs featuring its new mini LED technology in its Neo QLED TVs, and delving further into its emitting Micro LED display technology that will adopt OLED in the coming years. However, to some people, the real star of Samsung’s 2021 TV lineup doesn’t look much like a TV at all. The Frame – a TV designed to resemble a framed portrait – is getting a restoration in 2021, and fans of this imaginative TV couldn’t be more excited.

The main change to The Frame’s iteration this year has to do with the frame itself (i.e. the bezel), which Samsung has managed to slim down quite a bit – it’s now 46% thinner than previous versions and looks more like a framed portrait as a result.

The portrait-like borders of the frame and display artwork can be adjusted.

Samsung offers fixed bezels in five different color variants, so that fans of The Frame can choose how they want to present their TV to the world. In addition, these colors are available in two new styles, “Modern” and “Beveled”, allowing owners to blend The Frame better with the environment.

While size and pricing information is sparse, it’s worth noting that the 2020 version of The Frame was available (and still is) in six sizes: 32-inch, 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch. We expect the all-new version to feature 4K resolution, quantum dots and a relatively high price tag due to the elevated nature of the TV’s design.

It may not be the TV for everyone, but The Frame has somewhat of a cult following among folks who won’t settle for a garden variant TV in their living room or bedroom. Perhaps its continued success will inspire more companies to approach TV design with greater care and creativity.
