Samsung shoots Apple in an ‘epic’ way; This is what is happening

This year, the tech industry saw a major battle between iPhone maker, Apple and Fortnite developer Epic Games, which eventually led to Fortnite being removed from the Apple App Store. In the past, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has spoken out about Apple developers twisting their arms. And now the company is partnering with Samsung to indirectly take a shot at Apple.

Samsung and Epic Games have teamed up to send a gift pack to online influencers that includes a free Fortnite custom jacket with Apple-inspired logo and packaging. All of this is on top of a Galaxy Tab S7 tablet.

There is also a note in it that reads.

Hi there,

Fortnite was named Samsung Galaxy Store Game of the Year for 2020. To celebrate, we’ve shipped a special box of # FreeFortnite stuff together with Samsung.

While Fortnite may not currently be available from the App Store or Google Play, you can still download the latest Fortnite updates directly from the Epic Games app in the Galaxy Store. Spread the word. #FreeFortnite.

Thank you,
The Epic Games team

For Samsung, this partnership with Epic appears to be profitable in two ways. First, they can ridicule Apple, which is considered one of its arch rivals in the tech industry. And second, it also acts as a selling point for Galaxy smartphones.

For those of you who don’t know, Fortnite isn’t available on the Google Play Store either. However, it can be downloaded from Samsung’s Galaxy App Store, which is only available through Samsung’s phones.

This isn’t the first time Epic has tried to provoke Apple. At the Fortnite tournament in August, it handed out the same free Fortnite logo hat, along with a revamp in the same rainbow color scheme and typing phase reminiscent of Apple’s classic rainbow logo. The company has also made a parody video of Apple’s “1984” Mac ad.

All of this is happening while both companies are fighting in court.
