Rumor: Smash Ultimate Fans Think Fighters Pass Vol. 2 May get a bonus seventh character

As the last surprise, can we get a bonus fighter?

It feels like it’s been a really long time since we last sat down and think about a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate rumor – probably because the majority who make their way onto the internet are utter bullshit – but here’s one that power just have something for it.

A Reddit user named RiuBert has theorized that the game’s second batch of DLC, the ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass Vol. 2 ‘, could very well get a bonus seventh character on top of the six slots already promised.

As RiuBert explains in their post, all games, DLCs and product bundles have a unique code (known as an NSUID) on Nintendo’s official website. The first set of DLC characters, from Piranha Plant to the latest addition of the first Fighters Pass, Byleth, have DLC codes arranged chronologically from 70050000008501 to 70050000008506. The following is the bonus Rex Mii costume offered to those who use first buy. Fighters Pass, which ends in ‘8507’.

(Note that those links will direct you to the New Zealand Nintendo site, where NSUID codes are conveniently displayed in the page’s URL).

Now things get a little more interesting when we take a look at Fighters Pass Vol. 2. As before, fighters are listed chronologically (Min Min is 70050000018967, up to Pyra / Mythra at 70050000018970, with ‘18971’ and ‘18972’ reserved for the two unannounced characters). However, this time the bonus Ancient Helm + Gear costume reward of the Pass is not listed immediately after, with an NSUID of 70050000018974, instead of ending with ‘18973’. Instead, this mysterious ‘18973’ is “currently unavailable”. Still with us?

It then looks like Nintendo has yet to announce something after the sixth DLC fighter. Immediate, overly excited thoughts jump to a potential seventh fighter, which could very well be true, although it could also involve an echo fighter, some other bonus costume, or something completely different.

What do you think? Is there anything in this? Could you see Nintendo bring out a surprise character to end things with a bang? Let’s avoid hoping to a lot in the comments below.
