Honduran midfielder Roger Espinoza continues with it one more season Sporty Kansas City MLS, this was confirmed by the American club when announcing the contract extension.
“Sporting Kansas City has re-signed veteran midfielder Roger Espinoza with a new contract for the 2021 MLS season,” the team said.
Espinoza, 34, has played a pivotal role for the Sky Blue squad during his 11 seasons in the MLS, leading the club to seven playoff appearances and three Lamar Hunt United States Open Cup championships.
In two separate bouts with Sporting, from 2008-2012 and 2015 to the present, Espinoza is ranked third in club history with 301 competitive appearances and fifth in starts (271) and minutes (24,025). He has also scored 12 goals and is fifth on Sporting’s charts with 41 assists.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to return to Sporting and compete for an MLS cup,” Espinoza said in a statement on the Kansas City official website.
“Kansas City is a special place where I have spent most of my career and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I am proud to continue to represent this club and to play for our fans, ”he added.
