Rockstar Games’ unannounced game has reportedly been leaked by an employee

A longtime Rockstar Games employee accidentally hinted at the studio’s next project, and it might not be Grand Theft Auto 6.

An employee at Rockstar Games may have just leaked information about an unannounced game, sparking a storm of speculation over the weekend. It has long been known that the beloved developer of Grand Theft Auto V. and Red Dead Redemption 2 has a new project in the works, but Rockstar was silent on what it could be.

Has been the most requested title from fans Grand Theft Auto VIas the internet is full of rumors and speculation about the next installment of the studio’s famed open-world crime franchise. From data mining games such as Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Redemption 2 for hidden GTA VI Easter eggs to chart rumors speculating about the game’s setting, players waiting for the next GTA experience has stuck to every bit of information that may indicate the sequel is on the way. However, Rockstar has tried to assure fans that it will be a while before GTA VI arrives, and a recent leak from the inside suggests that the next game may be something completely different.

Indeed, Rockstar has been preparing for new projects in recent months, as it has recently acquired Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian games in October. Thanks to Rockstar Grand Theft Auto Online, which saw a record-breaking increase in player numbers due to events such as a spontaneous in-game alien gang war and the Epic Games Store that Grand Theft Auto V. free back in May.

Still, Rockstar Games looks to the future as it continues this wave of success well into 2021, but it looks like it will keep its upcoming plans under wraps for now. While Gander’s short-lived leak revealed next to nothing about what the company has in store for fans, the notion that the game industry titan has new experiences in the works is beyond the expected Grand Theft Auto VI is an exciting prospect, especially if the game in question turns out to be a throwback to one of the studio’s more neglected franchises.
