What role does The Music Locker play in the update of The Cayo Perico Heist?
The Music Locker is a new nightclub in GTA Online it’s open to everyone, and it’s a place where players can safely hang out, dance and have fun in between experiencing other aspects of the world while listening to some of the world’s best DJs. GTA Online has a huge audience – over 135 million copies of GTA V have been sold – and we want to bring them new sounds. As we have evolved GTA Online over the years we’ve always tried to find new ways to integrate the music and culture we love into the game, while finding new ways for players to interact and socialize. We’ve tried to make The Music Locker the perfect party venue for 2020 – a safe place where you can dance together and listen to great music.
Tell us about the club.
We wanted The Music Locker to feel like it’s one of those great clubs where the music policy is so good that the club automatically becomes the only place in town that can be seen, so we focused on a diverse set of DJs where we to love. The crowd is a mix of real heads and socialites who know they have to be there. That is reflected in the look and feel of the place, and the types of characters you encounter when taking a walk. It’s also the location where you meet your first contact to start The Cayo Perico Heist, which makes a lot of sense considering the robbery he’s asking you to commit.
What striking details can users expect from The Music Locker?
Our first look at a real club was with the After Hours update in 2018, where we captured the full performance from the DJs playing their sets to their technical drivers who usually carry them in the booth. But that just gave us the inspiration to push it even further, so this time Moodymann is supported by his dancers, playing vinyl and talking on the mic. We’ve also worked on new dance animations to cover the wide range of BPMs in his set, which ranges from 70 to 150. We needed that to look and feel as natural as possible both in the booth and on the stage. floor. Another cool aspect is that we EQs the DJ’s club mixes differently than when they debut on the radio – we want people to feel that booming bass-bin club sound as soon as you walk in to get you in the right mood.
