San Pedro Sula, Honduras

The candidate for mayor of San Pedro Sula for the Liberal Party’s Yanista movement, Roberto Contreras, has resigned from the position he aspired to.

The businessman will not participate in the next primaries for personal reasons, according to a statement by the national campaign committee of the Yanista movement.

“Our friend Roberto Contreras, candidate for mayor of San Pedro Sula, has decided for personal reasons not to participate in the next electoral process. We appreciate his friendship and his resolve to change the course of Honduras,” they announced.

“We appreciate the pictures from Roberto Contreras continue to support our candidate for president of Honduras, Yani Rosenthal, to bring about the change that Honduras needs, ”they report in the statement.

Contreras had also dropped his pre-presidential candidacy as he fought for the “Get on the Victory Train” movement in the Liberal Party.

On September 14, Honduras’ National Electoral Council (CNE) called for the primaries to be performed on March 14, 2021.
