Resident Evil Village demo confirms strange frame rate of 45 FPS with ray tracing on PS5 and Series X

4K HDR / 60 FPS with ray tracing disabled

Do you have the Resident Evil Village stream yesterday? If not, Jordan has you covered.

The bottom line is that there will be a 60-minute demo on May 1, and Mercenaries will be back.

But shortly after the presentation, Capcom updated the game’s official site and added a bit of framerate reference for the various versions of the game. Ready? At the base, at the top, PS5 and Series X players watch 4K HDR at 60 FPS. Good! That’s pretty much what Capcom promised when the game was first announced. However, once you enable ray tracing through it, it drops to 45 FPS on the same platforms. The Series S can run 1440p HDR / 45 FPS, up to 30 FPS with ray tracing enabled.

The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X can also run the game at 1080p / 60 FPS or 4K HDR at 30 FPS. The PS4 runs at 900p / 45 FPS and the Xbox One clocks at 900p / 30 FPS. I’ve gone through the generations for you! Oh, and Stadians you’re in luck: 1080p 60 FPS or 4K 60 FPS are options.

Relief!

You can find the full chart below, as well as on the site under the heading “Output resolution and expected frame rate”. I hope your platform and setting of your choice meet your expectations!

I’m just going to turn off ray tracing and sail at 60 FPS on current consoles.
