It’s been a while since rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy and young motorcycle enthusiast Claire Redfield first met in the zombie-full Raccoon City in the years 1998 Resident Evil 2. Now the dynamic duo is reuniting in the upcoming Netflix Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness CG series to tackle a new monster outbreak …in the White House?

Yes, the White House, because now Special Agent Leon is hilariously investigating a hacking incident for some reason, and Claire is calling for an unspecified “welfare provision.” Also, somehow the drawing of monsters is by a child extremely important for some reason. Oh, and it’s 2006, two years after the events of Resident Evil 4See, just look at the damn thing for yourself:

Netflix’s official synopsis adds a little extra light to the wild events of Infinite darkness: “In 2006, traces of improper access to secret presidential files were found in the White House computer network. US federal agent Leon S. Kennedy is one of the group invited to the White House to investigate this incident, but when the lights suddenly go out, Leon and the SWAT team are forced to take down a horde of mysterious zombies. Meanwhile, TerraSave employee Claire Redfield encounters a mysterious image drawn by a young boy in a country she visited while supporting refugees. Haunted by this drawing, which appears to be the victim of a viral infection, Claire begins her own investigation.

The next morning, Claire visits the White House to request the construction of a wellness facility. There she has a chance reunion with Leon and takes the opportunity to show him the boy’s drawing. Leon seems to realize some kind of connection between the White House zombie outbreak and the strange drawing, but he tells Claire that there is no relationship and leaves. Over time, these two zombie outbreaks in distant lands lead to events that shake the nation to its core. “

I don’t know why all this tickles me so. It just channels the goofiness of the classic Resident Evil games, which turned out to be both ridiculous and scary, and this is exactly what I want from one Resident Evil TV series. Well, that and a family sitcom starring Resident Evil: Village‘s Lady Dimitrescu and her crazy, murderous daughters, but maybe there’s room for that in between this, the Others Netflix show about the children of Wesker, and the restart upcoming movie

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness premieres on Netflix in July. Nick Apostolides and Stephanie Panisello, who recently voiced Leon and Claire Resident Evil 2 remake, return to their roles, with Assassination ClassroomThe direction of Eiichiro Hasumi.
