Resident Evil 9 is reportedly already in development

While Resident Evil Village won’t be released until May, it looks like Capcom is already working on the next installment of the survival horror franchise. That rumor comes from @ AestheticGamer1, also known as “Dusk Golem”. The leaker discussed Capcom’s current progress in the game, but be careful not to expect it to be released before 2024. The Resident Evil franchise is definitely one of Capcom’s most important, so it doesn’t seem unlikely. With the development of the current project coming to an end, it only makes sense that the publisher looks ahead to the future!

The original Tweet from @ AestheticGamer1 can be found embedded below.

For those unfamiliar with @ AestheticGamer1, he is one of the most prominent voices on the Silent Hill reboot rumors. It remains to be seen if those rumors will turn out to be accurate, but they’ve gained a lot of steam in recent months, lending some credence to its original coverage. @ AestheticGamer1 has previously stated that he is a game developer, which apparently is how he knows about inside information about titles like this. However, readers should still take these rumors with a grain of salt.

Of course it will take a while before fans know if the ninth Resident Evil is really in production! Publishers tend to keep that kind of information secret until they’re ready to make an official disclosure, and according to @ AestheticGamer1’s own reporting, we’re still a few years away from that. It seems likely we’ll see more Resident Evil content between the release of Resident Evil Village and the next series entry, possibly in the form of another remake. Anyway, with Resident Evil Village and the live-action movie reboots both this year, it seems like there has never been a better time for fans of the series!
