Coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in April.
NieR: Replicant – or NieR: Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 … as it’s more formally known – will make its way to PC and consoles on April 23, and those eagerly awaiting its arrival can now distract themselves with nine minutes of gameplay- recordings courtesy of a brand new trailer.
NieR: Replicant, if you’re not familiar, is an improved version of the original NieR – which was available in two different forms when it was released in Japan in April 2010. The PS3 version – of which ver.1.22474487139 is a remaster – was known as NieR: Replicant and featured a younger protagonist, while the Xbox 360 version, NieR: Gestalt, played an older protagonist.
Set before the events of NieR: Automata (although the two games are only loosely related), NieR: Replicant tells the story of a ‘friendly young man’ who leaves his village to find the famous Sealed Verses and his terminally ill sister. . He is accompanied on his travels by a strangely talking tome known as the Grimoire Weiss.
NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 – Barren Temple gameplay.
NieR: Replicant ver.1.22474487139 aims to enhance the original game with improved visuals, re-recorded audio, new dialogues and reworked combat that are a little closer to the system in NieR: Automata. The last element gets a decent representation in Square Enix’s newly released nine-minute gameplay footage above.
Focusing on an area known as The Barren Temple, it shows a mix of exploration and combat, culminating in a boss fight against a swarm of sentient cubes. Hopefully, that’s enough to get you started until NieR: Replicant’s April 23 release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
