Reminder: You can claim PS5 PS Plus games even if you don’t have the console yet

PS Plus PlayStation Plus PS5

If you’re a PlayStation Plus member, you are entitled to a handful of games each month. When PS5 launched in November, the number of monthly games increased to three: two PS4 games and one on PS5. Of course that’s great if you’ve managed to get your hands on one of Sony’s new consoles, but what if you’re having trouble finding PS5 stock or are just waiting to take the plunge? You miss that extra PS Plus game, right? Well, you don’t have to.

You can quite easily claim all of the PS5 games coming to PS Plus, even if you don’t have the hardware yourself. Let’s take this month’s Maneater as an example. If you want to be able to play this on your future PS5, you can add it to your library via the PlayStation app on smartphones or the PlayStation web store. Log in to your PSN account using either of these, find the game using the search function and click Add to Library. Once that’s done you’ll have Maneater in your library of games and can download it once you set up your shiny new PS5.

This of course applies to Destruction AllStars as soon as it comes out on February 2, and any future PS5 game coming to PS Plus. Adding the games to your library via a browser or the app will ensure you don’t miss out on these early PS5 freebies. It’s pretty simple, but not something that’s immediately obvious. If you see a PS5 game on PS Plus that you want to play, the lack of a PS5 doesn’t mean you won’t be able to play it in the end.

Do you have PS5 PS Plus games in your library through this method? Do you claim Destruction AllStars so you can play it as soon as you get your PS5? Tell us in the comments below.
