If you’ve been too busy cruising the streets of Cyberpunk 2077 don’t worry about taking part in this year’s Ars Technica Charity Drive sweepstakes. You still have time to donate to charity for a chance to win your share of $ 5,000 in swag (no purchase required to win).

To date, more than 400 readers have donated more than $ 23,000 to the Electronic Frontier Foundation of Child’s Play this year as part of the charity campaign (EFF is leading in the donation totals by approximately $ 800, FWIW). That comes a stone’s throw from the roughly $ 33,000 we raised last year and in line with the record of $ 38,861 we raised in 2016.

With two and a half weeks to go until the charity action ends on January 4, I know we can reach new heights of generosity if we all dig deep for a good cause. See below for instructions on how to participate, and check out Charity Drive’s starting post for a full list of available prizes.

How it works

Donating is easy. Simply donate to Child’s Play with PayPal or donate to the EFF with PayPal, credit card or Bitcoin. You can also support Child’s Play directly by choosing an item from a specific hospital’s Amazon wishlist on the donation page. Donate as much or as little as you feel comfortable with – every little bit helps.

Once that’s done, it’s time to register your entry into our sweepstakes. Simply grab a digital copy of your receipt (a forwarded email, a screenshot, or just a cut and paste of the text) and send it to [email protected] with your name, mailing address, daytime phone number, and email address address by 11:59 PM ET Monday, January 4, 2021. (One entry per person, and each person can win up to one prize. US residents only. NO PURCHASE NEEDED. See official rules for more information, including how to enter without making a donation. See also Ars Technica’s privacy policy.)

We will then contact the winners and let them choose their prize by January 31st (the selection will be in the order the winners are drawn). Good luck!
