Rejection for song about Kobe Bryant’s death | Music – People – Culture

American rapper Meek Mill received an outpouring of criticism on social networks after a song leaked last week referring to the death of Kobe Bryant, a remembered basketball star, who died in January 2020.

The track, entitled ‘Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe)’, is a collaboration with fellow rapper Lil Baby.

In this song Mill says: “If I ever miss it, I’ll hit the road with my helicopter, it’s gonna be Kobe again”, referring to the plane crash that killed the basketball player.

Later rapper Lil Baby tells about his wish to have a child: “That’s how I can call him Kobe, if he’s a Gigi girl.”

These fragments are related to the helicopter crash that occurred on January 26, 2020, when Kobe Bryant, 41, died, along with his daughter Gianna (Gigi), 13, and seven other people.

According to the ‘BBC’, the song is no longer available on any social network or YouTube.

Faced with this situation, Vanessa Bryant, the athlete’s widow, wrote in an Instagram story: ‘I find this sentence extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Point.’

In addition, Vanessa said that if the rapper is a fan of Kobe, he can show his admiration in a different way, as the lyrics of that song “lacks respect and tact.

Meek Mill, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, suggested on his Twitter account that his lyrics had been misinterpreted.

He also claimed it became a “trend” to be hated from time to time.

This scandal comes just over a month after the one-year anniversary of the death of the basketball star and his daughter, when the helicopter they were in crashed into a hill north of Los Angeles.

The ‘BBC’ said that in early February 2020, US security researchers deduced that the pilot was probably disoriented in the fog.

“We are talking about spatial disorientation where the pilot literally does not know which way he is going up or down, whether he is leaning left or right,” explains Robert Sumwalt, chairman of the National Board of Transportation Security.
