The Secretary General of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Reinaldo Pared Pérez, said on Saturday that increasing the participation of that political entity’s Political Committee would render it “inoperative.”
“I disagree with the increase in the PLD Political Committee’s enrollment to 45, as I believe it would put the said body inoperative,” the political committee still wrote on his Twitter account. .

During the month of January, Pared Pérez announced that he would not be reinstated as Secretary General of the PLD and requested not to remain in office, and that he would only be left as a member of the Central Committee, as his state of health he must reduce his political activities.
Wall Pérez’s tweet was answered by the also member of the Political Committee Jose Tomas Perez, who also agreed to the proposal of the former National District senator.
“In full agreement with my colleague and friend Reinaldo Pared !!”, the former ambassador responded to the purple party leadership’s rejection which was increased from 35 to 45.

Yesterday, the organizing committee of the IX Ordinary Congress José Joaquín Bidó Medina of the PLD announced that it will decide on the proposal to amend Article 23 of its statutes, suggesting an increase to 45 members of its Political Committee.
The article states that the “Political Committee is the executive body of the Central Committee and will be composed of the Chairman of the Party, the Secretary General plus forty-three (43) full members.”
These establish that one of the points to be taken into account in order to increase membership is that in the IX José Joaquín Bidó Medina Congress, the Central Committee enrollment will be about 1130 members, implying an increase of about 78% , therefore it is proposed that the membership of the Political Committee be increased by 29 percent to a membership of 43 members, to which the president and general secretary are added.
The Organizing Committee will submit this proposal to the vote from Sunday at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, February 22 at 10:00 a.m. 2021 via the platform www.plddigital.do.
The Political Committee currently has 35 members, in addition to the party chairman and the general secretary.
