Reds Place Mike Moustakas at 10 day IL

The Reds have placed the third baseman Mike Moustakas on the list with 10 days injured, retroactive to April 17, Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer was one of those who reported. The team recovered the infielder Alex Blandino from the COVID-19 list in a corresponding move.

Moustakas has been out of the Reds’ lineup since April 14 due to what the team has dubbed a non-COVID-related illness. However, Cincinnati placed him in the starting line-up for Tuesday’s game against the Diamondbacks before changing course.

Moustakas, who is in the second season of a $ 64 million four-year deal, got off to a quick start this month before his illness sidelined him. The 32-year old cut an excellent .289 / .404 / .553 with two homeruns and as many walks as strikeouts (seven) in 47 at bats. Since Moustakas was out, the Reds have turned to Kyle Farmer on the hot corner.
