Red Dead Online players receive free weapons and clothing for the holidays

Red Dead Online players will receive a number of seasonal holiday gifts in the form of a free piece of clothing and a free repeater, Rockstar Games announced this week. Now available as a standalone title, the creators of the online game shared a sneak peek at what’s new and what’s to come in the coming days, with players taking advantage of the usual XP bonuses and item discounts on top of the free items.

The two items that players get for free are the weapon and jacket mentioned above, which players can get after redeeming a coupon for the gear. Getting it is a simple process that can be done right away now that the game’s latest update is live.

“If the weather is bad, go to the Perks page in the pause menu to pick up a free set of gifts, including a coupon for a free jacket to protect you from the elements, and a coupon for a free repeater,” Rockstar Games said about the holiday update and the free items.

Additionally, Rockstar Games said players can also visit the gunsmiths to check out some new variants of guns. One of those variants will be given away like the two items listed above, while a shotgun variant’s rank restrictions have been temporarily removed.

“The holiday will even soften the steely minds of local gunsmiths, who are handing out the all-new Winter Evans Repeater variant for free just because they’re coming this week,” said Rockstar Games. “While you’re there, consider purchasing the seasonal Krampus Shotgun variant of the Double Barrel Shotgun, which has temporarily lifted Rank lock restrictions.”

Some new horses have also come to the stables to buy, and the Make It Count – Bow & Arrow and Last Stand modes pay out three times the rewards, which is common with Rockstar’s updates to Red Dead Online and GTA Online. Discounts at the Wilderness Outfitters, in the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. catalog, and on Moonshiner items are also all live until the next major update is released to replace all discounts with new ones.
