The Denver Broncos have agreed to sign a two-year contract with running back Mike Boone Mike Klis from KUSA-TVBoone is a 25-year-old running back who spent the first three years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings under current Broncos general manager George Paton.
The full terms of the contract have not yet been announced, but Klis reported that the deal includes $ 2.6 million in guaranteed money.
This could partially explain why Denver gave Phillip Lindsay an original tender that allows him to negotiate with other teams. Paton seems willing to replace Lindsay with Boone.
If Lindsay signs a quote form with another team that the Broncos don’t want to match, Lindsay’s new team won’t have to trade compensation to Denver in exchange for the running back.
Boone (5-10, 206 pounds) could have been signed to serve as the new addition to starter Melvin Gordon. Boone joined the NFL in 2018 as an undrafted free agent from Cincinnati.
For the past three years, Boone has been a major special teams player and rotating running back in Minnesota. He rushed 71 times for 379 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. Boone also caught seven passes for 28 yards in 40 career games with the Vikings.
